The Monadnock Energy Hub (Hub) held its quarterly meeting on Jan. 30th, in spite of snow squalls, more than two-dozen residents learned about the 2019 Solarize Monadnock campaign. Dori Drachman, Michelle Russell, and Pat Martin from Peterborough, Hancock, and Rindge respectively discussed their campaign, using the Vital Communities Solarize Toolkit, and the Hub’s support.

The Cheshire County Conservation District & MSN have launched a Community Supported Solar Initiative for Farms with support from the NH Charitable Foundation. This initiative aims to lower energy costs for local farms. Farmers are invited to find out how they can increase their energy independence and resilience, reduce their carbon footprint and boost the financial strength of our communities at informational workshops in three locations throughout the County in early March.
The night ended with local energy committees sharing their success stories. Ann Shedd shared Keene’s approval of the Ready for 100% resolution. Marge Shepardson (from Marlborough) and Pat Martin (Rindge) shared LED streetlight stories that focused on collaboration among town members that ended with not only Marlborough savings $9000 annually but also Rindge benefiting from their research to the tune of $5000 annually.
