Climate Change: Finding Hope through Action A Moderated Discussion with Local and Global Experts at Mariposa Museum in Peterborough, NH

The Mariposa Museum will host a moderated panel discussion about climate change and the steps being taken to address it with local and global experts on Friday, February 15 at 7pm.

In this special program, writer and cultural anthropologist Mary Catherine Bateson will moderate a conversation between guest panelists Dori Drachman and Bob Winterbottom. Bateson has spoken and written on many subjects, among them climate disruption, intercultural cooperation, and dealing with change.

Dori Drachman was a teacher and a naturalist for over two decades. She is now active with several local climate change organizations including the Peterborough Energy Committee, the Monadnock Energy Hub, Solarize Monadnock, and the Drawdown Spoke, a Peterborough effort to enact the climate change solutions outlined in Project Drawdown. Drachman will summarize the impacts of climate change in our region and the many local initiatives to reverse global warming.

Bob Winterbottom followed his service as a Peace Corps reforestation volunteer in Burkina Faso (West Africa) with a career in international development. Drawing upon his experience with the World Resources Institute, he will speak briefly about the effects of climate change in developing countries and the opportunities to address climate change while also contributing to other sustainable development goals.

Their moderated conversation will be followed by time for audience questions, comments, and discussion.

Admission is free to museum members and a suggested donation of museum admission ($8 for adults, $6 for seniors, $5 for kids) for others.
